Drawing, painting class set
A fine art drawing and painting class for youth is being offered at Shimmering Meadows Farm Studio and spaces are still available. The class is being taught by area artist Kitty Dodd, who is director and instructor of art at St. Luke’s School in Culpeper. The class is held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays and runs for 12 weeks. Call Carol Vogel, director, at 547-4385 for additional information.
March for Life planned
Hundreds of thousands of Christians and non-Christians will be participating in the March for Life on Thursday, Jan. 22 in Washington, D.C. This day will mark the 25th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision which has brought about the killing of an estimated 37,000,000 U.S. citizens. St. Peter Catholic Church has arranged for bus transportation to Washington, D.C. and invites everyone to join its parishioners for the March for Life. Volunteers sought for soccer
Volunteers are needed for the Rappahannock Soccer League. Those interested in keeping soccer alive and kicking in Rappahannock are encouraged to come to the volunteers meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library. Youth organizational meeting set
The newly forming Rappahannock “Creative Community Youth Council” (C.C.Y.C. or “KICK”) is having an organizational meeting at the Rappahannock County Library on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All community members and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend, especially teens.
Topics for this meeting will include: Development of a survey of interests and needs for teens to help determine future activities; Fund-raising dance; Calendar of Events coordination, including future meeting dates. Guest speaker Michael Soule will address those present on the topic “How Elderly Community Members Can Use the Service of Youthful Community Members”.

Workshop rescheduled
The 4-H Presentation Workshop is rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5 and Thursday, Feb. 12 after school at the Extension Office. This two day workshop will be presented by Mrs. Joan Proctor. 4-H’ers will learn from this very motivational and entertaining instructor how to give a presentation or demonstration for competition in the 4-H program. Giving presentations or demonstrations helps young people with public speaking and gives them the self esteem to express their knowledge about a particular subject in a constructive and teaching manner.
