Carroll Settle Sr.

Insurance salesman

Carroll F. Settle Sr., 78, of Front Royal died Tuesday, Jan. 13 at his home.

Memorial services were held on Friday, Jan. 16 at the Baptist Temple Church with Pastor Danny Clegg followed by a reception at the church. A private burial preceded the service.

Mr. Settle was bom Oct. 28, 1919 in Rappahannock County, the eldest son of the late Carrie Frazier and Walter H. Settle.

He married the former Kathryn “Kitty” Morris in December 1939. He served in World War II in France and Germany from 1944 to 1946.

He worked for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company for about 22 years covering Rappahannock and Warren Counties. He retired from the company in 1979.

Recently he had been attending services at the Baptist Temple Church in Front Royal.

Surviving are his wife Kitty; two sons Carroll Settle Jr. and his wife Vee in Bushnell, Fla. and Maurice E. Settle and his wife Debbie in Frederick, Md.; a daughter Patricia Banks and her husband Alex of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers Allen Settle, Arthur Settle, Wilton Settle, Luther Settle and Cecil Settle and two sisters Edna Vaught and Camilla Ogint.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Carroll Settle Jr., Maurice Settle, Alex Banks, Carroll Settle III, Ande Banks and Robert Shipe.

Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal was in charge of the arrangements.
