Diverse individuals from the community and the region who love poetry and write poetry will offer workshops and readings that create innovative ways for the students to interact with poetry.
Programs will be structured to appeal to a broad range of students, including students who may usually think of themselves as uninterested in poetry. “The Many Faces of Poetry” also hopes to develop a community-wide focus, awareness and enthusiasm for the art of poetry.
As a former artist-in-residence at RCHS and a nationally known multi-discipline artist in theatre, dance and visual arts, Wyrrick brings a wealth of experience to this project.
“The time is ripe for this kind of project at the high school,” she offers, “and through the joint efforts of artists working in the schools, teachers, administration and community groups and organizations there is now an exciting momentum amongst the students to explore arts mediums that are new to them.
