Students at Rappahannock Elementary School and Rappahannock County High School are busy getting their science projects ready for the Rappahannock Science Fair which will run from Jan. 2830. The public is invited to visit the science fair from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29.
Students are investigating all kinds of topics. Emily Sims is investigating whether dead trees decompose faster while standing or lying on the ground. Daniel Ramey is studying soil erosion anu its solutions. Michael Cairns is studying carbon dioxide and air. Melissa Gatewood is testing insulation and energy efficiency. Crystal Fincham is designing an experiment on composting. Using a computer program, Chris Antony will further his investigation from last year on fractals.
