The Rappahannock County High School girls volleyball teams played Luray last week at Luray. It was a disappointing night for the girls even though they played well said coach Laura Conklin.
“Both games were very close,” Conklin said. “We lost 17/15 and 15/13. They played very well. The officiating was much tougher than we’re used to. It didn’t surprise me but it was not what they’ve been used to.”
Conklin said she believes the reason for the loss was due to the fact that the girls didn’t do well receiving serves.
“I think the teams were well matched, really their playing ability is about equal. The official was calling a tremendous amount of carries and they called really tight. We’re not used to that. A lot of the fans were also surprised at the officiating,” she said.
