HEAVENLY IDEAS There are probably as many different definitions and notions of heaven as there are people on this earth. Some imbue the word with physical characteristics that are influenced by earthly experience, while others attempt to discern an ethereal sense of what the great beyond may be like. The very word itself summons up the idea of perfection, about which each of us has a different subjective idea. Is there, then, a universal definition that meets all expectations of what heaven may be? Alec Waugh divined a fine definition of heaven with the words: "To be excited and at the same time satisfied, to desire and possess-that has been described somewhat as the wise man's idea of heaven. And certainly one might search a long time for a better definition."
