Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Amissville with the Rev. Forest Freeman and Elder Lindsay Green officiating.
Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.
Joynes Funeral Home in Warrenton was in charge of the arrangements.
Clarence Whorton
Retired custodian
Clarence Franklin Whorton, 85, of Calverton, and formerly of Rappahannock County died Monday, Jan. 12 in the Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
Mr. Whorton was born April 2, 1912, in Rappahannock County, the son of the late Bryant and Elizabeth Fincham Whorton.
He was predeceased by his wife Martha J. Whorton and one son Thurman F. Whorton.
He was a member of the Community Christian Church at Morrisville and was a retired custodian from the Arlington County School Board system.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lila J. and Jimmy R. Hawkins of Calverton; one sister Virginia Clatterbuck of Front Royal; one daughter-in-law Sandra Whorton of Flint Hill; eight grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 15 with the Rev. Larry Kennedy officiating.
Interment was in the Washington Masonic Cemetery in Washington.
Pallbearers were Billy Costello, Jeffery Hylton, Russell Figgins, Samuel Grimsley, Matthew Shaw and Fernando Martinez.
