“Gun Play” and also to Robert Dennis’ letter to the editor “Suggestions for bringing back quail.”
Before doing so, I want to thank you for publishing the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) Regulation Coordinator Phillip Smith’s contact information. Phil Smith was very helpful in replying to questions that I had on the matter of fox hunting in Virginia. I would also add that I admire mounted foxhunters as well as enjoy quail and fox hunting with guns. Your editorial speculated that a decision to allow gun hunting of foxes would trigger “dire and irreversible” consequences and that “no one can say what effect the proposed changes in the gun hunting and trapping laws will have on the region.” As it turns out
