Nevertheless, I feel that it is important that we better understand the impact of gun hunting on the fox population as well as the reasons behind low quail numbers.
I agree with Robert Dennis’ position that DGIF “should not do anything to imperil fox hunting to the hounds.” The point that I don’t think has been properly appreciated is that according to the state “serious harm would not be done to the population” of foxes if gun hunting was once again allowed. If this is true, supporters of mounted fox hunting should not fear gun hunting of foxes.
