Marumsco Plumbing Company in Manassas for 22 years. He was a member of the Front Royal Church of Christ and attended Community Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Front Royal.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Yvonne Ferguson Smedley; a daughter, Donna Marie Sutphin of Flint Hill; two stepdaughters, Donna Marie Kidwell and Kimberly Dawn Wilson, both of Front Royal; two stepsons, Charles Edward Merchant and Anthony Dwayne Merchant, both of Front Royal; a granddaughter and eight step grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Betty Lillard and Ruth Stillwell, both of Front Royal and Mary Fogle of Chester Gap.
Pallbearers were Tommy Jones, David Lillard, Todd Brown, Edward Lamb, Everett Ramey, John Smedley, Lawrence Chadwell and Charles Smedley.
