According to a QU quail mortality study only 28.3% of quail died of mammalian predation. The study did not provide further detail that would give us a figure for fox predation. Separate QU studies have also explores the negative impact of chemicals and habitat loss on quail populations. So, it would appear that while foxes have some impact on quail populations a healthy environment and proper habitat management are more important factors influencing overall numbers of quail.
