The Smithsonian at Little Washington concert series at the Theatre at Washington, Va. presents a recital by baritone James Frederick Weaver and forte pianist Kenneth Slowik on Saturday, May 22 at 8 p.m.
The program comprises Franz Schubert’s exquisite and much loved song cycle”The Beautiful Maid of the Mill” Die schone Mullerin. Slowik will play a beautifully crafted forte piano made by Thomas and Barbara Wolf of The Plains. He will provide introductions to the songs during the course of the program.
The concert will mark the first appearance in Washington of baritone James Frederick Weaver, who enjoys an active career in North America and Europe. Since finishing his studies at Amsterdam’s Sweelink Conservatory with Max van Egmond, Weaver has sung with many groups on both continents.
He is an acclaimed Bach specialist and is on the faculty of The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. He has worked with some of the finest chamber music groups on both sides of the Atlantic, and has numerous recordings to his credit.
