Kiosk update
Town Kiosk Committee chair John Byam noted that the kiosk would be finished with the week and would be located in front of the Post Office. The kiosk will, feature three panels for information display: two accessible cork bulletin boards and one glass-enclosed panel.
Other activities
In other Town Council activities, Treasurer Viguerie provided her report on the town’s financial state, and presented the bills-to-be-paid list for council approval. She reported that by the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 1999), the town would have cash assets of $330,785.71, including reserves of over $180,000 in the sewer fund, and more than $45,000 in the water works fund.
Council member Steve Critzer presented a quotation from Country Water Systems for filter media replacement and for further investigation into water system problems. He noted that the town would not know the extent of the problem until they see the system’s distribution tube. Mayor Willis proposed to allocate $6000 from the water works reserves to investigate and repair the problem, and to return to the Council with a supplemental request should additional funds be required.
Town Attorney John Bennett presented two draft revisions to the Town of Washington Water Service Ordinance for Council review. The revisions address issues including monthly minimum charges, commercial versus residential accounts, and tap right purchases, and will be acted upon at a later date.
