Libby Snead was the winner of the 4-H Share-the-Fun contest held last Thursday night. Her recitation of “The Crooked-Mouth Family” netted her a scholarship to 4-H camp at Holiday Lake this summer. She is the daughter of Judge and Mrs. R.V. Snead of Washington. The Rappahannock County Garden Club flower show is scheduled for May 24 at the new fire hall in Sperryville. Mrs. Mary S. van Brederode, Mrs. C.H. Estes and Mrs. Ian Pryde try a variety of posies for an arrangement of the Williamsburg type for “Our Heritage” class. There will be educational, horticultural and artistic entries; classes for men and children, as well as garden clubs and garden clubbers. Over 250 Boy Scouts from the Shenrapawa District held a spring camporee at the farm of Tom Eastham near Flint Hill during the weekend. Thirty leaders directed the gyoup in the activities which included competitive games and achievements.
The first annual “Birdie for the Blind” Golf Tournament was held Saturday, May 10 at South Wales Golf Course under the sponsorship of the Rappahannock Lions Club. Thirty-six Lions from nine Northern Virginia clubs competed for team and individual honors. Trophies for the tournament were provided by
