5. Chappell reported the committee proposed that all donations be made not to the public schools, but to the Headwaters Foundation. The auditing firm employed by the local school system recommended this because they say state regulations on direct donations to schools of sums greater than $5,000 are extremely complex and difficult to navigate.
The Board voted unanimously in favor of all five proposals en bloc, with Rosa Crocker, Wakefield, absent.

During the portion Of the School Board meeting set aside for public comment Ron Makela of Jackson District rose to speak. He praised the schools, students, parents and volunteers for a generally good school year, noting the recent International Festival, the play “The Princess Bride”, the elementary school’s coffeehouse and other activities.
Makela then voiced a complaint about an advertisement in the just released yearbook. In question is a pro-life political ad, featuring several photos of fetuses - referred to as “unborn children” which were clearly selected to emphasize
