We are both retired now. But he can still fix anything. And he is still willing to go that extra mile. Just a week ago, another brother took his friend’s car to him and he fixed the air conditioner.
Nowadays I try not to bother him with so much stuff. I try to keep him as my consultant. You have no idea how many problems he has solved for me over the phone. And, I am still trying to nurture our friendship, and call, occasionally, just to stay in touch and see how he and his family are doing. I really do.
But, I still call, as I just did, to ask about the air conditioning thermostat and how it works and whether or not I can fix it myself. Nowadays, he is somewhat more apt to say, “Oh, I am sure you can fix it yourself.” And I do try. I really do. I love you, brother.
