Outdoor activities
Elementary school students waved scarves and danced a mid-east tribal dance with local dance troupe Mystic Fire. At a drumming workshop, thirty-five young students all drummed in unison like professionals.
Outside on the practice field, there were llamas to see, as well as Border Collie sheep herding demonstrations. High school principal, Roger Mello organized traditional Scottish games. There was the Caber toss, where a section of a tree is tossed end-over-end, and the toss is judged on elegance and finesse; the sheaf toss, where a sheaf of straw is tossed with a pitch fork over a raised bar, and Tug-of-War, which might possibly already be familiar to readers.
The success of this year’s festival will hopefully lead to many more.
