who thought he had been very helpful by taking all the old stuff out, and I tried to look like I knew what I was doing. I didn’t have a clue. I even made several trips back to my house to compare the wiring, and finally got the switches hooked up correctly, or so I thought, but the ceiling fan and light were another story.

Everything I tried failed. The fan would run, the light wouldn’t work. The light would work, but the fan would trip the breaker. I was desperate. I was pretty close to panic mode. I felt as incompetent as I actually was, and that was pretty bad.

I couldn’t call my brother to ask him to fix a neighbor’s problem. Well, as I said, I was desperate. It was midday on Saturday, a hot summer day. I lived in Fairfax, and he lived in Warrenton. I called him. Sure enough, after a bit, he showed up. The relief I felt when he arrived was unbelievable.
