June 25: Rivers and
Roots Festival
On Saturday, June 25 the “Rivers and Roots Festival” kicks off a day long celebration of Rappahannock agriculture and the environment. Cowpie bingo, Missie the International Champion Jumping Mule area farm and garden programs, exhibits on alternative fuels, watershed initiatives and environmental protection a packed line up of hands on learning experiences, all offered against a backdrop of homegrown music ranging from blues to bluegrass and beyond, and served up with a heaping helping of organic burgers, chicken and sides. Proceeds benefit Rappahannock school music programs. Performers include “Calypso-grass” favorites, Eddie From Ohio, plus Catfish Hodge, the award winning RCHS concert and jazz bands and more. Admission is free until 5:30 p.m., $10 evening admission for adults $5 for kids 10-17 kids under 10 listen free. Bring lawn chairs and blankets.
