The diocese founds missions in areas experiencing rapid Catholic growth. When a mission is deemed financially stable and land is secured for the future building of a church, it is designated a “parish.” Since 1999, the diocese has opened six new parishes, three missions, and two elementary schools.
New Parish
St. Peter’s Parishin Washington, Virginia, will be home to over 400 parishioners in Culpeper and Rappahannock Counties. Bishop Loverde appointed Fr. Robert J. DeMartino the first Pastor of St. Peter’s Parish. St. Peter’s church is located at Routes 211 and 522.
