He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army in Germany.
Mr. Dodson owned and operatad Robert M. Dodson and Son Trucking for many years.
He also had provided grave preparation services for Moser Funeral Home.
Robert was a member of the VFW Post #7728 at Morrisville.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years- Virginia Marie Butler Dodson; nine children and their spouses- Robert M. and Sandy Dodson, Jr., Patricia Lee and Bill Layman, Linda Ann and Luther Breeden, Steve Allen and Esther Dodson, Earnest Calvin and Marie Dodson, Dennis Stewart (Poodle) and Kathy Dodson, Kenneth Dean and Cathy Dodson, Kevin Raye Dodson and Diane Elizabeth and Jeff Williamson; one brotherMilton Lee Dodson; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The family received friends on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton where funeral services was held on Wednesday, June 15 at 2:30 p.m.
Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Bealeton, VA.
