Medical crews and pilots
Also at the event was LifeEvac II, a medical helicopter based at Stafford Regional Airport near Fredericksburg that provides scene response and innerfacility critical care transport throughout Northern and Egstem Virginia.
They are a partnership between Mary Washington Hospital and Air Methods Corporation. Rappahannock’s sister program, LifeEvac I, is based at Dinwiddie County airport southwest of Richmond, and is affiliated with the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.
The flightcrews are highly experienced nurses and paramedics who have received special education in the area of helicopter-based air medical transport. Crew members average greater than 10 years experience in their profession and more than 3 years of flying experience. Many of our crew members bring valuable flight experience from other programs around the country.
Bomb squad robot
Kevin Newland and Randy Almarode, Special Agents with'the State Police, had a bomb squad robot, which is based in Culpeper, at the DARE Day festivities.
The robot was purchased through a federal grant and is used for hostage situations, it can open car door, break windows, climb stairs, operated by a wireless system and can be use by a fiber optic, with a cable, even have two way communication. This robot weighs about five hundred pounds.
