Also in attendance was Smokey the Boar, shaking hands with children and educating the public about fire prevention. His presence in some part made up for the absence of the Medevac chopper, which was scheduled to be at the event but had to fly out on an emergency call.
New pumper
Another highlight of the afternoon was Company 3’s new pumper truck on display. The new unit is designated as ATTACK 3 and has been in service for about a month. This new unit carries all equipment found On a NEPA compliant engine. ATTACK 3 is a four-wheel drive International 7400 with a Pierce body. It can be used for all fire situations, and is capable of off-road water supply for filling tankers as well. Stop in at the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue and see the new ATTACK 3. Amissville Fire and Rescue provided refreshments, and the open house was a great opportunity for the public to meet county rescue personnel.
