Scrabble School 4-H Club Meets The Scrabble School 4-H Club was organized by County Agent W. H. Lyne and Miss Doris E. Daugherty on October 15, 1965. The following officers were elected: President, Joann Aylor; Vice-President, Frankie Thompson; SecretaiyTreasurer, Thomas Wigington; reporter, Robert Daniels; Song Leader, Lucy Jackson. We have 10 boys and 10 girls. We will meet on the third Friday of each month. I think the 4-H club is going to be enjoyed at Scrabble.
Robert G Dennis, Reporter October Celebration in Scrabble School From" the 3rd to the 15th the following things have been celebrated in Scrabble School: Fire Prevention. Newspaper Week with eleven different newspapers on display: The Rappahannock News, Culpeper Star-Exponent, Orange Review, Madison County Eagle, Richmond Times Dispatch, Fauquier Democrat, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Courier-Tribune (a N.C. paper), Reader’s Digest and Head, heart, hands and health. The papers were interesting to us. Also World Poetry Day was noted on Friday with each pupil reading a favorite poem. On Columbus Day we sang “O Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean”. We learned such words from the song as: gem, shrine, mandate, tyranny and homage. October has been a full month.
