The ownership of this property has been traced to 1838 in this county. Benjamin L. Partlow a former owner had left his wife, Roxaline (nee Oder) whom he married January 6, 1842, the house and dower land. Other owners have been Phillip Rudasille who married Frances Partlow, John Dwyer, the Coppage family, and lastly since 1937, three generations of the Baldwin family. George Racer was a son of John and Martha Sims Racer who were married Sept. 10, 1818. By inheritance George had come into possession of this property.
George Racer died in 1891 and bequeathed his estate among his seven children, viz, Martha M. Gore, Maiy H. Gore, Lucy J., Frances A., Ketura, Virginia L., and John Gid.
Virginia Lewis (her middle name is from her mother's maiden name) “Jennie” Racer had married Edward M. Coppage on February 8, 1886. Edward or Edwin was bom in Madison County a son of William and Melinda Hawkins Coppage.
