vacation possibilities On Saturday, November 12 at 5:30 p.m., the doors will open at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue for the 10th Annual Fall Auction for the Child Care and Learning Center. The proceeds from this benefit support scholarships for -> CCLC and will also help to fund the roof replacement for „ the gym at the Washington School that houses the CCLC After School Club. The $25 entrance fee will help to cover the cost of the lavish buffet spread, with wine and beer included. “We have some new and exciting things at this year’s - auction,” reported Amy Burnett, co-chair of the CCLC event with Debbie Donehey. “We are very excited about Kathy Shumate, our new auctioneer from Culpeper, who is donating her services to help us. In addition to her auctioneering business, Mrs. Shumate has lots of experience calling auctions for many charities in the Northern Virginia area. Be sure to look that up at kathyshumateauctions.com.” Vacation opportunities Along with incredible art, antiques, rugs, silver, and collectibles, this year’s auction will feature three amazing vacation opportunities. Dean Morehouse — former CCLC Board member and former mayor of Washington, Virginia - and his wife Linda are donating a vacation home of theirs in Myrtle Beach for a week. This town-home is designer- furnished, has 3 bedrooms and 3 Vi bathrooms, and is located 1 block from the beach and 1 block from the boardwalk. This would be an ideal location for a family holiday, as there are lots of things to do for children of all ages at Myrtle Beach. The Morehouses are also donating their one-bedroom condo on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, for a week-long „ romantic getaway. This Sapphire Beach condo has a large ' deck overlooking the sandy beach with beautiful palm trees and views out over Sapphire Bay to the other islands. There is a great snorkeling reef at the beach, and access to * a large swimming pool and bar area. There is a dining room with a lavish breakfast buffet every morning. Lunch and dinner is also available in the dining room, but it would be a shame not to explore some of the restaurants in the Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie! Louise Goddard, current CCLC Board member, has * convinced her mother to donate her 3-bedroom ski house in * Park City, Utah for a week. This wonderful house is locat*, ed in Old Tbwn and is in walking distance to all the shops » and restaurants as well as within walking distance (two ' short blocks) to the town lift for Park City Mountain - Resort. It is also a short drive to Deer Valley Resort and Z The Canyons. Other ski areas nearby are Alta and * Snowbird. The house is available only for the 2005-6 ski T season. (Blackout dates January 19 to 29 and President’s - weekend). “We are so pleased with the wonderful donations we * have for this year’s auction,” said Rose Ann Sharp, Exec. * Director of CCLC. “I am continually humbled by the stag- gering generosity of donors who support our charity for * children.
