My procrastination was probably indirectly encouraged by having a wife with a family-fed aversion to insurance companies. Do as little business with them as you can. But I do not agree. They provide a service to customers, employment to employees, and a return on investment to shareholders, none of which is necessarily reprehensible. It is rather weird, I think, that we pour money into a hole, hoping that we never have to ask for a return. The third lesson I hope I am learning, and want to share, is that homeownership responsibility includes homeowner’s insurance, unless we can afford to lose our home or replace it.
I will be glad to think that even one person might join me in trying to learn these three lessons. I will continue to thank God that there are so many good people, especially in Rappahannock County.
