Four new conservation easements totaling 568 acres were recently recorded in the Clerk’s Office. With these new easements, 21,969 acres or 16.1 percent of the private land in Rappahannock is protected by conservation easements.
An easement donated by John Kiser and Ragland LLC protects 315 acres on the east side of Rt. 231 near the Madison County line. The easement includes a riparian buffer along the Hughes River and limits division to two parcels.
Gregory and Allison AlifF recorded an easement that protects the 149-acre “Bean Hollow Tract” and the upper Jordan River on Rt. 629. Tnis easement limits division to two future parcels.
Martin and Cheri Woodard donated an easement protecting 100 acres adjacent to the Ragland Farm on Rt. 231. This easement prohibits any further divisions and has provisions to preserve the viewshed along Rt. 231 in the south
