reception

There was a lot going on Sunday afternoon in Washington as residents watched a parade, visited at various Open Houses and met up with each other as they shared holiday spirit.
“I’m going over to Town Hall,” said Robert Weinberg , “for the Blubaugh reception,” as he left one function and headed toward another.
For many, it wasn’t just a democratic event. For many, it was a bi-partisan celebration for one of Rappahannock’s own.
While Blubaugh didn’t win the 15th District Delegate seat, he was successful in rallying democrats in several counties. Jim Blubaugh, the Democratic Party’s recent candidate for Delegate to the Virginia House of Delegates carried Rappahannock County but lost in the larger Shenandoah and Page counties.
Several spoke on Blubaugh’s behalf but it was a special tribute from a former congressman and fellow Rappahannocker that was particularly noted - a letter from Ben “Cooter” Jones.
