Members of St. Peter’s’Catholic Church in Washington loaded an altar on to the trailer of Jim Vittitow, Chester Gap, (far right) who hauled it last week to St. Peter’s adopted “sister parish,” St. Ann’s Church, in Lakeshore, MS. The altar was donated by the Child Care and Learning Center, which had acquired it years ago from the late William Carrington of Washington, who collected religious' items. It will replace an altar ruined in the Katrina hurricane at St. Ann’s, where Jim, a skilled carpenter, went with a son and daughter to help restore the interior of the damaged church.
