Advisory Committee
to meet Dec. 15
On Thursday, December 15 at 3:45 p.m. the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) of Rappahannock County Public Schools will meet at the high school library. . SEAC was formerly known as the Local Advisory Committee (LAC). Present Committee members include Rose Ann Sharp, Marsha Thompson, Marrieta Verrill, Helen Williams, Karen Alexander, Sherry Hamill-Huff, Edith Clark, Linda Clark, Janet Jenkins, Elizabeth Lee-Harris, Jennings Hobson, Ellen Mustoe, and Ester Settle.
The purpose of the meeting on December 15 is to acknowledge the ever-increasing diversity of our student population and to celebrate the work performed on behalf of all children, particularly those with disabilities! Our scheduled topic of discussion for this meeting is the establishment of a school policy regarding the inclusion of students with v disabilities in the general education curriculum and classrooms. :
The philosophy of Rappahannock’s • Special Services Department is one that provides opportunities for learning for a diversi- « ty of learners. Ideally, our schools are places where children are valued and differences are seen as opportunities, not obstacles. The inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education curriculum plays a big part in this learning opportunity.
The December 15th meeting is open to any and all parents, teachers, community members who wish to attend and learn more about inclusion and participate in the discussion of how we can improve each Rappahannock student’s classroom experience.
