Debbie Brown has always been interested in the interior design and restoration of antique furniture in one form or another. As a little girl, the part of woodworking Brown liked best was the refinishing and staining of her father’s projects
“Being the oldest of four daughters it was natural for my father to let us help him in his woodworking shop with lots of things at a young age,” recalled Debbie Brown.
As she grew older, Debbie Brown continued to refinish and repaint her siblings’ furniture and sometimes did the same for neighbors.. While she likes restoration, Brown also believes that most older furniture is better made and has a more classic style than most contemporary pieces.
While living in South Carolina Debbie took a two-year course in Interior Design at the local Community College.
“That really restarted my interest in all of these things,” said Debbie who learned about composition, form, decorating, refinishing, reupholstering, restoring, and design and color.
Debbie met her husband, Bobby Brown of Washington, while chatting online, and soon found that they had much more to talk about than the weather. Both enjoyed custom made reproductions and furniture refinishing. Bobby and his family have lived here in Rappahannock for many generations.
