Alan and Susan Dranitzke amended an existing easement to add a 4-acre parcel adjoining the Shenandoah National Park in Gid Brown Hollow.

Additionally two existing easements, Monira Rifaat’s Manor Farm and Jeanne Kauffman’s North Poes Road Property, were amended to be more stringent.

A conservation easement is an agreement between a property owner and a public trust, usually the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, to restrict the property forever. According to Susan Strittmatter, vice-president of the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance (RCCA), “It is very heartening to have these new easements donated because conservation easements are a great way to preserve Rappahannock County.”
