remarkable feature of the Flying Pig is the actual bar itself. Built in 1937, according to a brass plaque attached to the wood, the bar is huge and made from polished burled maple and “zebrawood”. The bar was purchased oyer the Internet and trucked to Rappahannock in pieces from Wisconsin.
.“It had been in storage for ten years, and when we got it, it didn’t look like this,” said Morgan.
Currently the bar looks very good, and it looks even better at its most important part, the beer taps. Right now, the Flying Pig serves Magic Hat #9, Winterhook, Starr Hill Amber, and Newcastle Brown Ale along with the more usual Guinness, Budweiser, and Michelob.
Above the bar sit two large flatscreen televisions, which will be used to show sports games like last Saturday's Virginia Tfech loss.
“We’re going to have all the games in here,” explained Morgan.
