The Washington Town Council played second fiddle to WW Associates Engineer Herb White at their own February .session last week.
Despite the conclusion of several importaflt town issues, including the completion of the long approval process for the Pleasant View LLC subdivision, White was the focus of the meeting as members of the group Friends of the Rush River peppered him with questions about wastewater system design. White is assisting Washington with the installation and design of its new wastewater system.
“The permit issued is for a system that operates to the limits of technology. Various technologies are available, and we’re looking, for the most effective in terms of reliability and long term maintenance,” explained White.
The new system will discharge “effluent”, or treated wastewater, into the Rush River, which has drawn concern in recent months from Rappahannock residents who live along the Rush River but not within the corporate limits of Washington.
White was made available to the public by Mayor Eugene Leggett, who asked White to answer the questions of the Friends of the Rush River and clear up misconceptions.
