Black churches
In keeping with trends throughout the South, most of the Black churches within Rappahannock County came into being immediately after the Civil War or in response to the deteriorated inter-racial conditions around the mid 1870s. The first of these is Macedonia Baptist in Flint Hill. Organized in Flint Hill in 1865, the church held services in homes and fields until 1887 when the present building on the south end of Flint Hill was constructed. Its present pastor is Donald Simokins.
