More food items needed
A coalition of Rappahannock churches and community groups sponsors a USDA/Blue Ridge Food Bank free food commodities distribution on the third Thursday of every month, 3-5 p.m., at the Washington Baptist Church. Food from the Food Bank has been somewhat reduced lately, due to reduced . donations to the Food Bank. This is partly because a large portion of food and donations has been going to the Gulf coast area since Katrina. In January, the coalition bought (at very low prices) and distributed extra food, including stew and spaghetti sauce, to add to that supplied by the Food Bank. We also been grateful for donations of bread from Panera Bread in Warrenton.
In order to continue supplying a good amount of food to our Rappahannock neighbors in need, the coalition is asking for help. Families, churches, clubs, businesses, or other groups or individuals can sponsor needed food for a monthly distri- , bution, and know your support is going a long way to meeting a real need in our community.
