No to outside
instruction
In other matters, the School Board considered new policy on release time. Students will not be able to leave school during school hours to attend outside instruction. This is in response to a recent request by a ministry to arrange for release time for students who desire biblical instruction once a month during the school day. School Board Chairman Wesley Mills explained that he had received legal advice and concluded that “although one may seem unobtrusive, allowing one means allowing any and all in the future” which could be troublesome. “We are trying to protect an already overburdened staff from additional stress on their schedules.”
Four more years
On behalf of the School Board, Mills formally offered Chappell a new contract expiring in 2010. Chappell accepted.
