Town elections
If you happened to see the mayor of the Town of Washington on Monday afternoon, he was looking pretty chipper. Mayor Eugene Leggett has decided to run for another four-year term. Leggett didn’t put in his application alone. ViceMayor Reinhardt Lynch was with him as well. Having Leggett and Lynch continue to head up town government has many folks in town smiling. Together, they’ve added a level of sensibility and common sense coupled with a sincere desire to do what’s best for the town and its historic residency and buildings.
They won’t be facing easy issues as the building of a wastewater system is high on the horizon line and has increasingly become an issue that has flowed well beyond town boundaries and into county territory. As Leggett was heard saying, “Bring it on, I’m ready.”
