these Meanwhile, the riparian land surrounding the Jordan River on Hannan’s land is being recovered as a “forested riparian buffer” under CREP. The land, which is protected form the stock by a fence, is seeded with young trees growing in miniature green house “tree tubes” made of biodegradable plastic. The trees will act as runoff preventers, holding the soil against runoff and keeping Harman’s farm from going into the river. CREP is devoted to assisting landowners in putting riparian land into longterm protection against development, and creating runoff barriers. According to Harman, the changes have been pleasant as well as environmentally friendly.
