VABMP concentrates on helping farmers follow conservation plans to minimize environmental damage. At Harmany Highlands, livestock was fenced away from the nearby Jordan River. Instead of drinking from the river, Harman’s cattle drink from specially designed water troughs fed from a well. The troughs sit on gravel beds to prevent the many thirsty cattle from tearing up the ground around their water source, damage they would have been doing to the Jordan’s banks in the past. The pump which feeds the troughs is in turn powered by a solar panel on the farm. VABMP and organizations like it will share up to 75 percent of the cost of modifications like
