ability in the family lies. Dad doesn’t even know how to play the radio,” Benyo said, laughing. “Christmas carols, other holidays and birthdays, we always had a piano and my aunt or I would play.”
Benyo took his first piano lesson at age seven. It was not so much his decision, but his parents’. They purchased a piano and waited until he was mature enough to take an interest in the instrument.
“Mom was so sure that I’d play the piano, and I wanted to take the lessons,” he said. “I caught on quickly, and I was playing some big time classical stuff. I never practiced, because I didn’t like it.”
