is distressed and disgusted with a word I used in a recent “Up in the Hollow” column. I apologize to Emiel and take full responsibility for its usage. The column had been previously sent to RappNet, our local internet opinion/chat room (where language is occasionally saltier) and was not re-edited for the paper. That was entirely my fault. Frankly, I think the word was the right choice for what I meant to say. It was not used as a “smear” but to describe the anger certain of us feel when our traditions are insulted. Perhaps it would even describe the feeling Emiel has when seeing such words used in print.
