How important is it for you

to be able to call 911 and receive fast and effective assistance in the event of an emergency? Have you or your family ever been faced with emergencies, accidents, or lifethreatening illnesses? The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad exists to serve our community and its citizens in their times of need.

Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad has been serving Rappahannock County and surrounding rural areas since 1970. Distances and road conditions present obstacles which make our responses more challenging than those in cities. Dedicated volunteers are at present the only means available to respond to citizens’ emergencies which come at all hours of the day and night. The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad’s primary territory is the largest in the county. Our response territory also includes portions of Shenandoah National Park. Despite these obstacles, our call responses compare favorably with paid emergency medical services in Northern Virginia. SVRS responded to over 200 calls during the past year.

Recently, our ranks have thinned because of some our members have returned to school or are going on to college; family matters are limiting service time, or job
