building
new facility
The Salem Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is moving right along with its new building, just a short distance from the previous one, here on Route 522.
Thanks to the Culpeper Board of Supervisors who voted to give a good sum of money to help with the cost of the new facility, which will certainly provide needed space. One of the largest volunteer departments in the county is our own Salem Department. Many business and community members are supporting the fund raiser and we know this volunteer department will be a great help to the community; any support will be greatly appreciated.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. Frank Settle, a former native of Castleton area, who passed away Sunday and was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery on Thursday.
To our area folks and all family members we extend great sympathy at the passing of their loved one, Mr. Charles Kennedy, a native of Slate Mills.
Condolences to the family of Mrs. Lillie Baldwin of Reva Way who passed away last week.
Belated anniversary wishes go out to Mr. and Mrs. Nick Norman who observed another year together on Thursday, and to Marc and Jennie Dodson who celebrated another year Wednesday. Also greetings go out to Kim Sealock and Thomas W. Miller who both shared Thursday for their day, Sheree Mills added another year Tuesday and yesterday, Wednesday, Mrs. Lillian Norman, also added another year and may our gracious Lord give each of you many more.
The annual fall shooting matches began Friday evening at the Castleton Fire Department and will continue weekly beginning at 7 p.m For information call 540-937-4110.
A Gospel sing featuring “The Gospel Descenders” will take place on Saturday, October 14th beginning at 6 p. m. at Nazareth Baptist Church on Route 707, Boston, Rev. Howard Frye, Pastor.
We continue to send greetings to Mrs. Hazel Delph, a member of Black Oak Regular Baptist Church and now a resident of Culpeper Health Care, who on Tuesday celebrated and greatly enjoyed her 85th birthday.
