John Mitchell, a native of Illinois, was introduced to Central Virginia when he served four years at the Army Judge Advocate ueneraJs School at the University of Virginia in the late 1960s. His Army service led to a career at the now-lIS. Government Accountability Office, from which he retired to a weekend home near StanardsviHe, in Greene County in 1996.
One of the attractions of the area was its panoadmity to Shenandoah National Barit, and during much of the past decade, John has been engaged in doing photography for the Park’s publications, exhibits, ranger programs, and Internet web site. .
