Sept. 6: RAWL Spay and Neuter

The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL), in collaboration with the Shenandoah Valley Spay and Neuter Clinic, has opened registration for the second of its regular monthly trips to Harrisonburg. Under this new program, costs of “fixing” pets are reduced dramatically: male cats $45, females $50; male dogs $55, female dogs $65. (Small additional charges may apply, depending on the animal’s vaccination history). The next van trip will be Tuesday, Oct. 2. Please take note: registration for this trip will dose on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Owners register and pay in person in advance at the RAWL shelter in Amissville. First come, first served. Act now: van space is limited. For further information, call the shelter at 540-937-3283 any time between 8 a.m. arid 1 p. m. seven days a week.
Sept 7: RAAC Movies are Back
On Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. the new season will open with “The Queen” at The Theatre in Washington. Admission $6. Rated PG-13; 97 minutes run time. An intimate, revealing and sometimes humorous behind-the-scenes glimpse at the interaction between Her Majesty Elizabeth (Helen Mirren) and Prime Minister Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) following the death of Princess Diana. The two struggled to reach a compromise between what was a private tragedy for the Royal family and the public’s demand for an overt display of mourning. Helen Mirren won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in this film.
Sept 7,14: Bag Sale

Sperryyille Volunteer Fire Department Auxifiary will be having their Picking Party on Saturday, Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department at 6 p. m. All biuegrass and country bands are welcome. There will be a 50/50 raffle. The Fire Department Auxiliary will be selling refreshments.
