set the Bulldogs up inside Panther territory. For plays later, Logan threw a lateral pass to VanWycek, who outraced the Panthers defense for a 26-yard touchdown run to give the Bulldogs a 14-7 advantage at the half.

“We felt really good at the half,” Fitzmorris said. “We knew we had a chance to win.”

The Bulldogs received the opening kickoff of the second half and returned it to their own 38-yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, Logan found Painter for eight yards, and the Panthers were struck with a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty on the play to put Luray inside the Panthers 40-yard fine. From there the running back trio of VanWycek, Runyon, and Jeremy Leake combined to carry the ball nine times for 39 yards, and the Bulldogs went ahead 21-7 on a twoyard touchdown by VanWycek.

To their credit, the Panthers kept fighting.

On their next two possessions, Rappahannock drove the ball inside Luray’s 30yard line only to see the drives end on fourth down miscues.
