The line of customers on the next to the last day at Apple Hill Bakery was never short on Sunday and the shelves were bare by the time Dontez began to fill the air behind the building with his silky soothing saxophone. Accompanied by Andrew Smith on drums, the crowd settled in to enjoy an evening of this top quality jazz by the river. Enter Monica! During intermission Monica Worth set up her microphone for her first song. (More about Monica and her business on Main Street next week). Her slow, seductive heartfelt voice, intense and sincere, revealed an ability to reach a wide vocal range with ease. At the end of the first song, a cheer broke out! Once again, on that little deck behind the bakery, music of top quality entertained a loyal Apple Hill crowd on a perfect September evening.. Right to the end, Eileen and Lucky provided a unique gathering place in Sperryville. Thanks again and we love you.
