Landfill agreement
with Culpeper
The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement to transfer solid waste from the Rappahannock landfill to Culpeper County at their Wednesday meeting.
County Administrator John McCarthy said that the Rappahannock landfill is nearing its capacity. He said an analysis determined that shipping trash to Culpeper would be more cost effective than expanding the Rappahannock dump site. Culpeper County would benefit from fees charged for use of its landfill and the Culpeper Board agreed to such an arrangement, McCarthy said.
McCarthy said that Rappahannock residents will be able to use the Rappahannock landfill as usual, but commercial haulers will have to dump their trash elsewhere. Safety committee approved
The Board approved the creation of a public safety committee to address safety needs in Rappahannock County.
